Birthday Party #2

The second party was for Katherine. Her Mom and I are friends through the spouses group, which means her husband works on base too. We get together with their family fairly often and the kids really get a long great. Here is the birthday girl with her cake. (she is the girl with the glasses in the pretty princess dress)Sorry so blurry!

This was a Prince and Princess party so kids could come dressed up. Check out this handsome couple!

Those of you without daughters, this is Aurora and Prince Phillip (of Sleeping Beauty)dancing "Once Upon a Dream"...

The kids played this really cool game that I guess is really popular in England, called Pass the Parcel. Kids pass the gift around and when the music stops the person holding it gets to open one layer of wrapping and there is a candy in that layer and whoever is the last one gets the gift that is wrapped inside.

And I have NO idea what is on the bottom of my girls shoe. Bad Mommy!

Here is the cake that my friend actually made and decorated herself! Overachiever!!

And last but not least our little princess enjoying her cupcake.

Birthday Party #1

The first party was for a little girl in Calvin's class. Her name is Gwyneth and her Mom and I are friends as well. Her party was at Burger King at the Science Center/Aquarium. Here is the birthday girl on her "throne".

Then they all sat down on the chairs and waited their turn to kiss the birthday girl.

Calvin even won one!

Then they wheeled in the birthday girl with her cake.

Finally they get to eat their little Burger King meal and wear their crowns.

After they ate their cake, they got to go into the aquarium and see all the fish. Only bummer is that parents weren't allowed to go in with them, so no pictures. But the kids seemed to really enjoy it and we do plan to go back as a family one of these days.

The next day the kids had a blast playing with all their goodie bag items.

Ballooning Around the World

Calvin had his production today. It was put on by all three Reception classes, so all the children are 4 or 5 years old. It was a very cute production called Ballooning Around the World. Calvin was representing Egypt.

The Fun Place

We promised the kids that we would take them to "the fun place" if they were good all week. This place is in the same shopping center as the bowling place, so when we went bowling they saw it and have been wanting to go back ever since.

There is a little roller coaster in there that was the first thing they wanted to ride. Here they are getting ready to go.

This is what the mini-coaster looks like.

They LOVED it! It goes around like 4 times. I tried to get a pic of them coming past, but I always missed them. They had HUGE smiles on their faces!

Next, Alayna wanted to ride the horse and Calvin rode the dinosaur. Note the smiles again!

Next was the Monorail.

Then we went to jump on the trampolines.

And I just love this picture, I am not sure why, but I do. Calvin is just looking out into the world, and I love the light hanging there and the shape of the window that just reminds you where we are.
From The Fun Place

In case you noticed that there were NO other children at this "Fun Place", that was a very strategic move on our parts. We made sure to get there right at 10am when it opened, because the locals don't really get up and going that early. By time we left at 11am the crowds were starting to arrive. Lets just say that my poor little kids would have probably ended up like road kill if we would have gone at lets say 2pm.

Long time, No Posts

Sorry for not updating the blog this week. The blame is two-fold: one part busyness and one part laziness. Anyways, I am here to promise you many posts are coming soon. I am now downloading pics to my computer, and I promise to be up-to-date by Monday. Keep watching for lots more posts next week, Calvin's Birthday is on Tuesday and we have a few other photo worthy events in the happening this week.

Please forgive me and I will promise to not let it happen again. (anytime soon) ;)

This Weeks Quotable Quotes

Well it turns out I didn't take too many pictures this week and it was overall a boring week. But I do have some funny quotes to pass along.

Ryan brought home some new Dora Band Aids and Alayna saw them and said:

"Daddy, I am going to get hurt real soon so I can use these!"

Calvin had kind of a rough week at school last week and was quite sad going to school each day. On Monday (his 2nd day of school for the week), I said "Calvin you love school, why are you so sad?" His answer:

"But Mommy, I love you more than school." And my heart melts.

Today I picked up Calvin from school(by the way he is doing much better this week) and this is what I found:

"Mommy I'm Dooku, and this side is Lightning..."
From 2009-01-19

"And this side is Force Push."
From 2009-01-19

Ok, in case you aren't the mother of a little boy, that is a Star Wars reference he is making. Lovely isn't it?!

Today I finally got my hair cut for the first time since we got here. And the final quote of the day is from my friend Anita: "Hey there Sassy!"

Bowling (for real)

From Real Bowling

We took the kids bowling for the first time EVER yesterday. It was a ton of fun.
The kids balls were 6 pounds, still pretty heavy for the little ones.

So they needed a little help getting in down the lane as well.

And then the balls needed a little coaching on their long journey.

Finally, Success!!!

Yes, Ryan and I bowled as well. Some of you have heard me say how much I HATE bowling, well it turns out that I DON'T hate Bumper Bowling!

I actually almost beat Ryan, but he got 2 strikes in the 10th frame and beat me.

We all really had a good time. I don't know that we will do it again anytime soon since it cost about $40 for the 4 of us to bowl just one game.

Seeing Auntie Brooke (part 2)

Yup! We were lucky enough to see Auntie Brooke again. This time she was on her way back to Iraq after her R&R. We were hoping to be able to have her come to our house and stay overnight, but that wasn't in the cards this time. Hopefully next time.

Here are a few pics from our time with her.......

Auntie gave each of the kids an Army Teddy Bear. Alayna has to have hers in bed with her now:)

Alayna just loves her Auntie!

And I love my baby sister.

And on a slightly different topic, People over here LOVE my little blond kids! I mean everywhere we go they get candy and pats on the head and all kinds of attention. Well this guy working at the KFC on the base where we were visiting Brooke just had to hold her and give her a cookie! Then Brooke ordered the Popcorn chicken that Alayna had requested and he gave that to her for Free as well! Calvin was with Daddy at the McDonalds ordering food for the rest of us, and Calvin got himself a Free Apple Pie! When we get back to the states, my poor kids are going to wonder why they aren't the center of attention every time they leave the house.
