The hardest part of being so far from home is the seperation from your family. Then this week my sister was able to visit us! She is currently deployed to Iraq, but she was able to convice a lot of Colonels and a General to let her come stay with us for a few days! It was so amazing to have family here in our home and to see our life here. The kids were beyond excited to see their Auntie Brooke, and Alayna literally didn't stop talking and bouncing for at least the first 30 minutes that Auntie was here.
Auntie got here on Wednesday morning and we really spent most of that day at home just hanging out. Alayna barely let Auntie out of her sight the whole day.
We played some baseball.
I think Auntie should stick to pitching :) (note the ball at the bottom of the pic)
We also had a blast playing with the Wii. Brooke and I did Dance Dance Revolution one night and some bowling, but the game we all played the most was MarioKart.
Are you noticing a pattern here with Alayna attached to Auntie??
Calvin did get some Auntie time as well. Playing lightsabers with Auntie was his favorite part of the day. (Aunties too I think!)
On Thursday we took the kids to school and both kids really enjoyed showing off their schools to Auntie. After we dropped off the kids, Brooke and I met my friend Nena at a Starbucks to have a coffee and a chat.
After our coffee we did a little shopping and then it was time for lunch. Brooke wanted Sushi so that is what she got!
Thursday was a really busy day! After we picked up both kids and got them home Brooke was able to take a quick nap while I got a few things together for our playdate that afternoon. I had invited my friends Sarah and Marcelle to come over with their children to hang out and meet my sister. We had such a nice time with them and the kids rode their bikes and scooters outside and had a ball. I was so happy that Brooke was able to meet some of my friends here.
On Friday we went to the pool/beach, and Calvin and Alayna fought over Auntie the whole time! Calvin is at that age now where it is a constant chatter of "Watch me, watch me, are you watching?" He is so proud of his bravery in the water. Brooke and I just laughed remembering how many summers our Mom had to listen to us saying those very words. We had so much fun at the pool that I never even took the camera out, but I did get a picture at the beach.
What a blessing this week was!
Is there anything better than hanging out with your sister? It was like a dream having her here and I miss her already. Thanks for coming sis!

So glad you had a good time! It's so good to have family in your home when you live overseas!
Are Alayna and Auntie Brooke bookends or what?
